Is it anxiety or intuition?

Something feels off. From the inside, a warning and a worry feel almost the same. Three questions to tell them apart.

Something feels off. Is your gut warning you, or is your anxiety inventing a threat? From the inside, they feel almost the same.

Intuition tends to be quiet and steady. It notices specific things and doesn't need reassurance to settle. Anxiety tends to be loud and urgent, and it moves: once one worry is answered, another takes its place.

Three questions to ask

  • Is this feeling about something they did, or something they might do?
  • Would reassurance make it go away for good, or only for an hour?
  • Have I felt exactly this in every relationship, whoever the person?

If every partner sets off the same alarm, the alarm may be the thing to look at.

Neither feeling should be ignored. But only one of them is about the person in front of you.

Keep going, out loud.
